Much like his Chargers special teams counterpart, Cameron Dicker, Scott has been consistent. Since signing in Los Angeles prior to the 2022 campaign, the 30-year-old punter has averaged over 46 yards per punt, with only his first season as part of the team falling below that number. In fact, Scott incrementally improved in that specific area during each campaign and posted a career-high last year at 47.8 per punt. Each season, Scott also posted an average of over 41 net yards per punt after not doing so during his first three years with the Green Bay Packers.

Stout is the league's reigning first-team All-Pro punter. He was rewarded by following John Harbaugh from the Baltimore Ravens to the Giants and signing a three-year, $12.3 million contract. His average annual salary now tops all punters. Stout has been a quality punter since entering the league as a 2022 fourth-round draft pick. However, he's still ascending. The 27-year-old set career-highs last season with averages of 50.1 yards per punt and 44.9 net yards per attempt. Though Stout tends to power through kicks and drive them down the field than generating high-end hang time.

McNamara's first full season as an NFL punter bordered on exceptional. The 2024 undrafted free agent wasn't on a regular-season roster during his first year out of Texas Tech. He won the job during last year's training camp on his way to becoming the Jets' "sniper." The 25-year-old McNamara finished second last season in kicks downed inside the 20-yard line, fair catches forced and overall hang time.

Dickson presents the NFL's best combination of leg strength, hang time and ball control, thus his standing as the game's top punter. An argument can be made that the 2018 fifth-round draft pick had a down year for him. His average yards per punt and net punting average were both down compared to the previous two campaigns, while he allowed the highest average yards per return than at any point in his career. Yet he still ranked top-nine in average yards per punt, net punting average, return percentage, punts pinned inside the 20-yard line, fair catches forced and average hang time—which indicates a well-rounded specialist.
